Oak Leaf Quilt

It's not perfect, but my first Oak Leaf block is done. The block is going to be 13" when finished. In the original quilt blocks are bigger, but I couldn't calculate the actual size. So I decided  the size of block by thinking what size of quilt I like to have.
Backgroud fabric is originally pure white but I haven't been able to take good pictures.
I also managed to do a little progress with my Diamond Hill block two.

Appliques

I borrowed a book from the local library, it's American Quilts & Coverlets in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.It has many beautiful quilts.

But I fell in love with one called Oak Leaf Quilt, it's  maker is unknown and it's made ca. 1860.I read everything about it and made a sketch, wich is not very good but gives you the idea.
I also made templates
and started my first block after i found almost similar fabrics from my local fabric store.
So this is going to be my second applique quilt for this year. Esther Aliu's lovely BOM Diamond Hill estheraliu.blogspot.com  is the other.

Still quilting

I have neglected my blog badly. Dear Jane is not finished and instead of quilting, I have been knitting  and studying.                                                                                                                                             Never before have I done BOMs but now I started two. First of them is Bonnie Hunter's Mystery BOM En Provence. I made all those 3" blocks but

then I put those in a old shoebox. I'm hoping I'll return to them later in the this year. I sarted those, when I had my winterbreak and probably I'll continue during summer vacation...

My second BOM is Esther Aliu's Diamond Hill. It's a lovely applique design. I haven't done applique for a couple of years so it hasn't been easy. But I'm learning.
